About FiveStair
FiveStair is a free, independent planner for stairlifts, home lifts and platform lifts. It was made for older people and, just as often, for their sons and daughters who are planning for a parent.
What makes FiveStair different
- Your real stairs in 3D. Straight, L-shaped, U-shaped, winders, curved or spiral: you see your own staircase at real size with the lift riding on it, how long the rail is, how long the ride takes and where the chair parks.
- A fit check with reasons. For each lift type you get "fits", "fits with options", "needs a survey" or "not suitable", and why: the stair width, the angle, the top landing, a door at the bottom, the user's weight and mobility. The limits come from makers' specifications and published standards, and we link to every one.
- Prices with sources. We show price ranges only when a named source states them, with the date we checked. If we have no sourced price for your country, we say so instead of guessing.
- Grants, country by country. From the UK's Disabled Facilities Grant to Germany's care fund grant and France's MaPrimeAdapt', with the official page and who to ask.
- No pressure. No countdowns, no "today only" offers. If you want quotes, you choose up to three companies by name, and nobody gets your details before you confirm.
How we earn money
Installers pay FiveStair when you ask them for a quote, and only the companies you pick. We never sell your details and never rank companies by what they pay. Read how we earn money.
Frequently asked questions
Is FiveStair really free?
Yes. Planning, prices, grants and the 3D view are free and need no sign-up. Installers pay us when you choose to request a quote from them.
Do you sell stairlifts?
No. FiveStair is an independent planner. We do not make, sell or install lifts. A local installer surveys your stairs and gives the binding price.
How accurate is the fit check?
It applies published maker limits and standards to the measurements you enter, and tells you the reason for every result. A free survey by the installer always confirms the details.
Can I plan for my mother or father from another town?
Yes. Most people plan for a parent. Save the plan, share the link with your family and print a summary for your parent.
