We collect as little as possible, never sell data and never store health information. This page explains what we process, why and for how long.

Who is responsible
The operator named in the imprint is the controller. Contact: hello@fivestair.com.
Using the site
- Statistics without cookies: we count page views and tool use with a key that changes every day and cannot identify you. No advertising or tracking cookies, no third-party analytics.
- Preferences: your language, country and units are saved in small first-party cookies; reading settings (text size, contrast, theme) stay in your browser's storage.
- Planner and calculators: your stair measurements stay in your browser unless you save or send a plan. The grant checker's answers never leave your browser.
Saving and sharing a plan
A saved plan stores the stair measurements and the user's weight and mobility as entered, without your name or contact, under a random link. Anyone with the link can open it.
Quote and call-back requests
- What: name, e-mail, phone, postcode, timeline, who the lift is for, your message, the stair plan and the lift types that fit, and the date and wording of your consent, with a hashed (not readable) record of your IP address as proof.
- Why: to confirm your e-mail, find installers covering your area and, after you confirm each company by name, send them your request (your consent, GDPR art. 6(1)(a)).
- Who receives it: only the companies you confirm, at most three. Each partner has signed a data agreement with us.
- How long: requests are kept for 24 months for disputes and statements, then deleted or anonymised. You can ask for deletion earlier.
- Planner on an installer's website: if you send a request from the planner on a company's own website, it goes only to that company, after you confirm your e-mail address.
Remote surveys from an installer
If an installer sent you a survey link, your measurements, answers, optional phone number and photos go to that installer, who decides what happens with them; we process them on the installer's behalf. Photos are re-encoded in your browser before upload (which removes location data) and deleted 12 months after you send the survey; unused survey links are cleared after 90 days.
AI helper
Questions you type into the helper are stored without your name, with e-mail addresses, phone numbers and postcodes removed, so we can answer them and improve our guides. The cleaned question and matching excerpts from our pages are sent to DeepSeek to write the answer.
Service providers
Hosting in the EU (Hetzner, Germany/Finland); e-mail delivery (Resend, EU region); AI answers (DeepSeek, see above; please don't type personal details into the helper); payments for the installers' survey subscription (Stripe).
Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, a copy of your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time by writing to hello@fivestair.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
