  • Installation, electrics and any minor building work (radiators, sills) are included.

  • What a yearly service costs and whether the first one is included.
  • What removal costs, and whether they buy the lift back.

  • Your right to cancel and how long it lasts, especially if you signed at home.
  • The price is based on a survey of your own stairs, not a phone estimate.

How to read a stairlift quote

A fair comparison needs the same things in every quote:

  • The lift: make, model, straight or curved, seat type, options (powered swivel, folding rail).
  • The work: survey, installation, electrics, any minor building work.
  • The aftercare: warranty length and what it covers, the first service, the cost of a yearly service, battery replacement.
  • The end: removal cost and any buy-back.
  • Your rights: how long you can cancel, especially if you signed at home.

Red flags

  • Pressure to sign today, "special prices" that expire tonight.
  • A price for curved stairs without anyone measuring them.
  • No written warranty, or a vague "lifetime" promise without terms.

Frequently asked questions

How many quotes should I get?

Two or three, for the same stairs and the same features. That is enough to see a fair price without wasting days on visits.

Is a cheaper quote a worse stairlift?

Not necessarily. Check the model, the warranty, what servicing costs and whether installation is included before you compare prices.
