How to compare stairlift quotes
Two or three quotes for the same stairs are enough to see a fair price. The trick is to compare the same things: the lift, the work, the aftercare and your rights.

1. Get the survey right
- Every installer should see the stairs (or get exact measurements and photos for a straight staircase).
- Be there with the user, and ask how the seat swivels and where it parks.
- Use your own measurements from our measuring help to check theirs.
2. Compare like with like
| Ask for | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Make and model | So you can check the specs on our model pages |
| Installation and electrics | Some quotes leave them out |
| Warranty in years, in writing | Parts, labour and call-outs |
| Yearly service price | A recurring cost |
| Battery replacement | Every few years |
| Removal or buy-back | The cost at the end |
| Lead time | Curved rails are made to order |
Then use the quote checker to see where each price sits.
3. Watch for pressure
- "Today only" discounts, or a price that drops sharply when you hesitate.
- A salesperson who stays for hours.
- Pressure to pay a large deposit at once.
Take time; discuss with family. A good installer will leave a written quote.
4. Know your rights
Many countries give a cooling-off period for contracts signed at home. In Germany, for example, the Federal Court of Justice ruled that the right of withdrawal also applies to stairlifts made to measure and installed in the home, as the consumer centres (Verbraucherzentrale) reported. Ask every installer to state your cancellation rights in writing.
Frequently asked questions
Why do stairlift quotes differ so much?
Different models, rail lengths, options and what is included. Compare the same items and the warranty, not only the total.
Should I pay a deposit?
A deposit is normal for made-to-measure curved rails; keep it reasonable and get the terms, the lead time and your cancellation rights in writing.
